Well for a while there it was lookin' like we'd spend Christmas as did Joseph and Mary,
Ya could say for a couple of months our life was gettin' a little hairy.
It was the first part of November and old man Whipple decided to sell all of his cattle,
He said the I'd have to find a new place to ride my slick forked saddle.
On top of all this he said we had a month to get out of the place we was callin' home,
So for a couple of weeks out lookin' for a new job and a place to live I did roam.
I applied for a dozen or so jobs that would support out little family,
Then I got what ya could call a job interview with the Mustang Association out to Barclay.
They needed someone to feed the horses through the winter season,
And I told them that not to hire me they didn't have no good reason.
So we packed up our belongings and loaded up a couple of outfits,
And we moved out to Barclay and since then life's been anything but the pits.
An easier job I couldn't have found,
All's I'm doin' now is throwin' hay on the snow-covered ground.
Porter now has a train that comes by the house every other hour,
And can ya believe that out here in the sticks we have runnin' water and power.
Yeah, its like I'm retired and still makin' a decent wage,
And our family couldn't be happier out here amongst the pines and the sage.
Look out Waddie, Here comes Trent!
